How we handle player information. Short version: opt-in only, and you choose what is public.

⚠ Guardian-consent verification is not live yet.

Who we are #

Proving Ground is run by Luke Overmohle d/b/a Proving Ground (ProvingGroundGG), based in Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA.
Contact: [email protected]

US only for now. Proving Ground is launching in the United States only. Sign-ups and profiles are open only to people who live in the US.

Effective date and changes #

Effective date: October 27, 2026.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and post the new version here. For important changes, we'll also email account holders (and guardians of players under 18) before the change takes effect.

The short version #

Your public profile shows your gamertag, platform and region. Anything else is shown only if you turn it on yourself. Real players appear only after they opt in.

What we collect #

Required: gamertag, platform, region, tracker link and a contact email. You can also add an X handle.
Optional, only if you add it: real name, date of birth, country or state, current team, Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Discord, a short bio, achievements, a highlight video link, and whether you're open to offers.
Nominations: someone nominating you can only give gamertag-level info and their own email. Any extra details come from you when you confirm.
Guardian info: for players aged 13 to 17, a parent or guardian's name and email.

Date of birth: we ask for your full date of birth only to check your age. Once the check is done, we delete the full date and keep only your birth year and your age band (for example 13–17 or 18+).
Players under 18 must give a parent or guardian's email at sign-up.

Every public field is opt-in #

Each optional field has its own "Show publicly" box, and it starts unticked. If you don't tick it, the field stays private. Your contact email, your guardian's details and your full date of birth are never shown. If you choose to share your age, we show only your age, not your birthday.

Players under 18 have a shorter list. If you're under 18, only these can ever be public: your gamertag, a "U18" label, your team, achievements, your PG Rating, your platform and a broad region (like "NA"). Your real name, age, exact location, socials, bio and contact details are never public while you're under 18. A tracker link can be shown only if your guardian approves it separately on guardian.html.

Ages 13 to 17 #

If you're under 18, a parent or guardian has to agree before your profile goes public. We contact them by email, and your profile stays pending until they do.

Here's how it works: we email your guardian a single-use link that expires after 7 days. The link opens guardian.html, and consent only counts when your guardian clicks the consent button there. Until then your account and profile stay private. If no consent arrives within 30 days, we delete the account. See Guardian consent below.

No one under 13 #

Because of the U.S. children's privacy law (COPPA), we don't accept sign-ups from anyone under 13. If we learn we have info from someone under 13, we delete it.

How we check age #

When you sign up we ask for your date of birth. We use it only to check your age, then discard it and keep just your birth year and whether you're under 18. We don't ask for ID; we rely on what you tell us. You must be at least 13 and live in the US. If you're 13–17, a parent or legal guardian must approve by email before anything about you is public. One approval covers your account and profile; if you later want to show something new, such as your tracker link, we ask them again. If we can't accept a sign-up, we keep only a one-way scrambled (hashed) copy of the email address and the time of the attempt for 30 days to stop repeat attempts, then delete it. We never keep the date of birth from a refused sign-up.

Changing or removing your data #

You can change what's public, hide your profile, or ask us to delete everything at any time. Email [email protected] from your contact email, or have your parent or guardian email us. Include your gamertag. Parents and guardians can ask for removal for a player under 18.

How we use your information #

We use your information to:

• run your player profile and show the fields you chose to make public;
• make you visible to scouts, teams and organizations using the site;
• contact you, and your parent or guardian if you're under 18, about your profile, nominations and opportunities;
• keep the site safe, including preventing fraud, cheating, impersonation and harassment;
• meet our legal obligations.

We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.

Who we share it with #

Only with:

The providers we use today:
• Cloudflare, Inc. (website hosting and security), 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.
• Supabase, Inc. (data storage and account sign-in): stores account and profile data and handles logins.

• Service providers who help us run the site, such as hosting and email. Analytics: None. They may only use your data to provide their service to us.
• Authorities, when the law requires it (for example a valid court order), or when needed to protect someone's safety.

Anything you choose to make public can be seen by anyone who visits the site.

Cookies and local storage #

This site: uses your browser's local storage only, to remember things like your Prospect of the Week vote and form submissions. It stays on your device, and you can clear it anytime in your browser settings.

Our host: Cloudflare may set one strictly necessary security cookie, __cf_bm, to filter out bot traffic. It isn't used for tracking or ads. If we turn on Cloudflare Web Analytics later, it is cookieless.

The live site: will use cookies needed to keep you signed in. Analytics: None. The full list of cookies and storage we use:
• __cf_bm: a Cloudflare bot-management cookie. Strictly necessary; lasts about 30 minutes.
• Supabase auth session (browser localStorage): used only when you log in, to keep you signed in.

How long we keep data #

• Profile data: until you ask us to delete it, or after 24 months of inactivity.
• Unconfirmed nominations: deleted after 30 days if the player doesn't confirm.
• Guardian consent log: kept for 3 years (a record of who consented, when, and to what), even if the profile is deleted.
• Pending or unconfirmed records (sign-ups waiting for email or guardian confirmation, and unconfirmed nominations): deleted after 30 days.
• Inactive accounts: deleted after 24 months without a sign-in.
• Full date of birth: deleted right after the age check. Only birth year and age band are kept.

Security #

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No website or online service is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Your rights #

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, and to opt out of emails and of any data use you didn't agree to. Depending on where you live, US state privacy laws may give you additional rights.

To make a request, email [email protected]. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Players outside the US #

Proving Ground is run from the United States. If you use it from another country, your information will be processed and stored in the US.

At launch, Proving Ground accepts sign-ups from US residents only.

Guardian consent and how to revoke it #

• Giving consent: we email the guardian a single-use link that expires after 7 days. It opens guardian.html, and consent counts only when the guardian clicks the consent button. Until then the player's account stays private, and it's deleted after 30 days without consent.
• Tracker link: needs its own separate approval from the guardian.
• Revoking consent: a guardian can withdraw consent at any time by emailing [email protected] from the email they used to consent (include the player's gamertag), or through guardian.html when that option is live. When consent is revoked, we delete the profile. We keep only the consent log, for 3 years.

Takedown timing: When a parent or guardian revokes consent, or a profile is otherwise removed, we take it down from the Proving Ground site within 3 business days and remove it from our own social media posts within 7 days. We can't control copies that others have already shared or saved.

Nominations #

If you nominate someone, we store your email with the nomination. The nominated player gets one invite email only. We don't send reminders or follow-ups. If they don't confirm, the nomination is deleted automatically after 30 days. Nominations are never public.
